Lay Members
Holy Week Crosswalk 2022
The Regnum Christi spiritual family is made up of Catholics who gather together to help each other respond faithfully to the universal call to holiness and to work actively in the task of preaching the Gospel. Members of Regnum Christi share in the same charism as the Legionaries of Christ, a charism which fosters their Christian life, their participation in the local and universal Church, and their self-giving to others.
The majority of the Regnum Christi’s members are lay people – young and old, single and married, men and women – who seek to live out their baptismal commitment to holiness and apostolate more intensely.
The core of the our charism, or gift of the Holy Spirit, is love. From a deep and life-changing encounter with the person of Jesus Christ springs forth a response of love in the soul and a desire to share this love with others – a collaboration with Christ in building His Kingdom. This Kingdom is Christ himself, when he is known, loved, and imitated by every person.
Those called by God to be part of this spiritual family find in it a concrete expression of God’s love for their soul and a way to respond to this love. Rooted in prayer and counting of the grace of the Holy Spirit, members seek to grow in holiness through various means of formation available to them – the weekly Encounter with Christ, monthly retreats, and annual spiritual exercises. A life of deep prayer and union with Christ forms members to be apostles in the world, missionary disciples who aspire to evangelize every sector of society – to set the world ablaze – with the love of Christ.
