Thank you for all your prayerful support in the discernment for Chicago’s new RCD. Mirta Garcia is our new Regnum Christi Director! We will welcome her this weekend at the retreat and transition over the summer months.

Mirta R. Garcia was born and raised in Chicago. Her grandfathers migrated from Mexico to the USA through the Braseros Program. This was an agreement between the U.S. and Mexican governments that permitted Mexican citizens to take temporary agricultural and railroad work in the United States.
Mirta and her husband, Cesar Garcia will celebrate 31 years of sacramental marriage this June. They have three young adult children, Andrew age 28; Alexis Ixchel age 27; and Maya Alissa age 23.
Mirta has worked full-time at the Institute of Pastoral Studies, Loyola University Chicago since July 2015 as Administrative Assistant to the Office of Continuing Education. She has extensive administrative experience and skills in office and program coordination. She has a religious education background and Spanish fluency.
Margie Lademan, RC Consecrated Woman, introduced Mirta to Regnum Christi by inviting her to Mornings of Reflections in the fall of 2010. The RC reflection took place at the former home of RC Consecrated Women in Northlake, IL. She was drawn by its description of the morning of reflection which included mass, confession, talk, and sharing with other women. The series of reflections ended with family missions which included making sandwiches and passing them out to the homeless throughout Chicago streets after the Memorial Day parade. This was the first time she and her family fed the homeless. Mirta continued to stay close to RC Consecrated Women. She volunteered as the ECYD Summer Camp mom for several years, participated in Holy Week Missions with her family, and hosted missionaries at her home. With time she and her husband became close friends with the RC Consecrated Women and Legionaries of Christ. In July 2013 she incorporated and became a Regnum Christi Member. Mirta is passionate about her Catholic faith and Regnum Christi’s charisma.  She volunteers as a lector at her parish, St. John Vianney in Northlake, IL.
She recently graduated with a BA in Pastoral Leadership with honors, Magna Cum Laude, from the School of Continuing Education and Professional Studies, Loyola University Chicago. She volunteers as a Student Ambassador for SCPS.
She enjoys outdoor running, plant-based cooking, gardening, and spending time with her husband and three young adult children. She cares for her beautiful aging mother. She is scheduled to run her first marathon for charity, with Team Race ALS, Less Turner Foundation at the Bank of America Chicago Marathon on October 13, 2024.
Her favorite quotes:
Remember that bodily exercise, when it is well ordered, as I have said, is also prayer by means of which you can please God our Lord. ~ Saint Ignatius of Loyola
Take care of your body as if you were going to live forever, and take care of your soul as if you were going to die tomorrow. ~ Saint Augustine
